Dear River Road Church Family,
This week the pastoral staff has been monitoring the upcoming winter storm that will affect southern states all the way up the mid-Atlantic and northeast. We know that this storm is headed to Virginia and we’re likely to see snow and ice. In preparation for this and keeping the safety of our congregants in mind, we are not canceling church, but we’re shifting when we’re having church.
The ministers have been in conversation with deacon leadership and worship leaders to hold worship on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary.
Worship is open to all—join us, invite a friend or a neighbor, and share our social media posts. We want to meet and greet members and guests on Saturday just like we would on any Sunday morning!
Much of worship will look the same—you will be greeted by ushers and deacons, acolytes will be present, the Chancel Choir will lead music, a lay reader will read scripture, and Daniel Glaze and Daniel Ingram will lead our liturgy and sermon. While we will not have a Children’s Time and Children’s Church, there will be WorshipCare volunteers for our littlest worshipers.
Worship will be broadcast on the church’s YouTube Channel (@riverroadchurch) and the replay will be available throughout the weekend—watch it on Saturday night with supper and snow, save it for a sunrise service on Sunday (sunrise is at 7:18 a.m.), or maintain the tradition and watch it at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. For those who access the livestream via the church website, it will still be available at rrcb.org/live.
We will not hold Sunday School before worship on Saturday, but your class may decide to make lunch plans or hold a Zoom call.
All of this means, out of an abundance of caution, the church will be closed on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and all planned activities and meetings are postponed.

- Business Meeting – postponed to Sunday, February 1 – new notice will be emailed on Monday; agenda remains the same
- Arts Committee – postponed to Sunday, February 1
- TFC Supper, Programs, and Choir Rehearsals – postponed to Sunday, February 1 – supper reservations are open now

- Churchwide emails will be sent out to those who receive the e-Spire. If you do not currently receive the e-Spire, you can sign up here. (After subscribing, check your email to confirm your subscription.)
- Social Media posts will be shared on Facebook and Instagram
