Who We Are

In 1946, founding members of River Road Church, Baptist envisioned an open Christian congregation that could welcome fellow believers, while showing respect to their prior denominational affiliations and practices.

Today, we warmly welcome new members into fellowship, eager to show the love and nurturing that River Road offers.

River Road Church is a member of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, an organization committed to congregational partnerships, mission service and advocacy, theological education, and affirmation of women in ministry.

River Road Church is an ecumenical community of faith that believes every person is created in God’s image, and we desire all to find belonging here.

We warmly welcome and affirm into our fellowship and membership people of any age, race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, ethnicity, political belief, and ability. God loves and embraces all people, and so do we.

We strive to be a community known for our love for God and all people. At River Road Church, Baptist, the privileges and responsibilities of membership (including baptism, communion, leadership, service, marriage, child/family dedications, ordination as deacons and ministers, and pastoral care) are open to all members of our church.

Thoughtful Faith Community

For several years, River Road Church, Baptist has identified itself using the tagline “Thoughtful Faith.” We are unafraid to approach our faith intellectually, honestly, and authentically—with all our doubts, fears, questions, and misgivings, as well as our joys, trust, belief, and hope.

In 2017, we renamed our educational and spiritual formation activities Thoughtful Faith Community (TFC for short).

Bringing together River Road’s spirit of learning and openness, this name embraces our desire to come together and seek to be more faithful with our whole beings—our hearts, our spirits, our bodies, and our minds.

Please come join us as we seek to be a community of faithful learners who choose to embrace all that it means to be thoughtful humans seeking the mystery of a loving God together.
