Dear River Road Church Family,
The pastoral staff met this afternoon to evaluate the current building conditions and discuss the weather forecast for this weekend. We made three attempts to plow and clear the church parking lot, but due to the cold temperatures the parking lot is still treacherous and covered in ice. The building will remain closed through the weekend, especially with the snow storm predicted for this weekend.
The decision was not made lightly, but pastoral staff and deacon leadership felt that safety was the utmost priority, and worship this Sunday, February 1, 2026 will be pre-recorded and released on Sunday morning.
The pastoral staff will record worship on Friday morning, and the video will premiere on the church’s YouTube Channel (@riverroadchurch) at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, and the replay will be available to watch whenever is convenient for your family. For those who access the livestream via the church website, it will still be available at rrcb.org/live.
Sunday School Classes are invited to still meet virtually.
Hybrid classes may use your regular Zoom link to meet at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. If your class would like to meet at a different time, please email info@rrcb.org. If your class does not usually meet via Zoom, please email info@rrcb.org to schedule a time for your class to meet over Zoom. We know your teachers work hard on their lessons each week, and many curriculums have a schedule, so we want to honor your time and keep folks connected while snowed in.

We are grateful for the congregation’s flexibility last week and this week!
We are typically able to bounce back from winter weather quickly, but the combination of ice and cold temperatures has challenged us this week. We appreciate the grace you have given your leadership as we have navigated the weather in Richmond this week and forthcoming.

Thoughtful Faith Community: Questions Jesus Asked
We want to continue our Sunday night Bible study on Magrey deVega’s Questions Jesus Asked. Rev. Anna Miller will provide a written summary/commentary on the chapter Why Are You Anxious? (Luke 12:25-31) this week. Rev. Dr. David Breckenridge and Rev. Daniel Ingram will plan to present the chapter What Do You Live For? (Mark 8:34-38) on February 15, and Whom Will You Love? (Luke 6:27-36) on February 22. Anna will then provide another written summary/commentary on the last chapter What Are You Looking For? (John 1:35-38) before the series ends.
