Ash Wednesday Service
Time & Location: 7:00 pm in the Chapel
Ash Wednesday Bulletin
We begin the pivotal season of Lent with our Ash Wednesday Service of Worship on February 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel. Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent, a season of spiritual renewal and preparation as we journey toward Easter. In this service, we acknowledge with humility and honesty the ways we have fallen short of the fullness of our calling. Through prayer, Scripture, and silence, we express repentance and trust in God’s grace. We also recognize our shared humanity and dependence on God through the receiving of ashes, a visible sign of both mortality and hope. The service will include the imposition of ashes for all who wish to receive them. All are welcome.
If you need childcare for children 3 and under, please contact sandyrooney@rrcb.org.
This service will not be a livestreamed.
If you are unable to attend because or work other personal responsibilities, we will also be offering “Ashes to Go” throughout the day.
This was born from a desire to make this available to preschool parents, but your pastoral staff is opening this opportunity to you, too. This is a simple but meaningful way of bringing the church beyond the sanctuary and into the rhythms of daily life. On Ash Wednesday, from 8:30-9:15 a.m. and 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m., your pastoral staff will be present near the Lower Commons entrance offering prayer and the imposition of ashes to any who wish to receive them. Here you will have the opportunity to pause and remember God’s invitation to grace and steadfast love.
