The second ever River Road Women’s Retreat is now just a fun memory!

The verse that was picked for the weekend and for our tee shirts was 2 Corinthians 5:7- “We live by faith and not by sight.” This was a theme throughout the weekend reminding us as we get busy and bogged down with what we SEE, there is a bigger picture that we CAN NOT SEE. God is in control and has a plan for each and every one of us.

There was delicious food and bright fabulous colors of pink and purple everywhere, even in the flowers. Not only was part of the Fellowship Hall transformed into the Old Testament’s times, but we were also visited by many remarkable women from that time with their issues and the relevance for us today with the same issues. Our speaker, Anita Gutschick, was a dynamic actress who became these characters right before our very eyes.

In addition to singing and mingling, there was also individual quiet times and discussions in the large group and smaller groups. One of the attendees commented, “It was nice that you could speak up and comment if you wanted to during the weekend, or you didn’t have to and you could just sit and listen.” We were given challenges ranging from “grabbing our husbands’ hands and being spontaneous” to “what do we need to let go of, to be a better follower of Christ.” The weekend was described as: “our time there being very worthwhile,” ” special for the women of River Road,” and “great fellowship, faith, food, and fun.”

You should be there at the next one!
