Then we experimented with moving to Sunday nights. It was fun. We tried something new. We learned a lot\, and what we learned wasn’t really about the night. \nWhether Wednesday or Sunday\, Thoughtful Faith Community (our evening Christian Education programming) at River Road meant eating together\, then one program\, one room\, everybody together. This fall it means something more—a community meal\, several ways to participate all offered at the same time\, and the choice about which one is yours! \nSo we’re coming home to Wednesday—but not to the same ol’ Wednesday. \nThe Board of Christian Education & Spiritual Formation invites all adults to the unveiling of Thoughtful Faith Community: the meals\, the participant options\, and the schedule. Fellowship\, donuts\, and coffee at 9:45 a.m.; presentation at 10:00. We’d love to see you there! \nYouth programming will remain on Sunday evenings. Children’s programming is TBA.

The meeting is open to all; dinner by registration. \n Melissa Rogers: What Baptists Got Right at the Founding and Why It Matters Today \nFor this special occasion\, we will reflect on 150 years of the work of the Society and 250 years of the United States\, including a keynote address by Melissa Rogers: What Baptists Got Right at the Founding and Why It Matters Today. \nA nationally known expert on religion in American public life\, her areas of expertise include the United States Constitution’s religious liberty guarantees and the interplay of law\, religion\, policy\, and politics. Rogers currently serves as Distinguished Scholar in Faith\, Law\, and Public Policy in Wake Forest University’s School of Divinity and as a nonresident senior fellow in the Governance Studies program of the Brookings Institution.

Some of the meals we packaged in 2023 were shipped to Madagascar. \nThis is a great opportunity for children to participate alongside adults in a project that directly impacts the hungry in our community and around the world. Children 4 and older can participate in the event. Funding will come from the church’s reserve accounts. \nIf you have specific questions about this meeting\, it would be helpful if you would submit those by Friday\, April 10 at 5:00 p.m. as it is sometimes difficult to accommodate large group discussion via Zoom.
