11/17/21 Re-Entry Task Force Update

Greetings River Road Church family,

Our church staff and lay leadership remain encouraged by the participation in our in-person worship services as well as the continued strong interest in our livestream service for those who are more comfortable worshiping in that manner.

The last several weeks have brought relatively good news in that new COVID cases have continued on a downward trend in the Richmond, Henrico, and Chesterfield metropolitan area. For this, we are grateful to God and to our medical community.

Therefore, beginning this Sunday, we will move from masks required to masks recommended in our worship services and other indoor gatherings. Our children’s ministries will continue to require masks for children age 4+ and their teachers for the foreseeable future. Moreover, the masking protocols for River Road Preschool are determined by the state.

While this may mean a change in masking behavior for some, many of us will continue to wear our masks. In this (and all things), we want to be charitable and kind, and encourage everyone to do what is best for them, their family, and their neighbors here at church. Please note also that the pulpit side of the sanctuary includes roped off areas to facilitate distancing for those who may be interested in that.

In worship and in all aspects of our congregational life, we keep your safety and well-being in the forefront of our minds and hearts. Throughout this difficult journey together, out of love for our church family, we have sought to highlight for you the best scientific guidance available—encouraging vaccination, masks, and distancing.

We sincerely appreciate your prayers for our team; we are certainly praying for you.

Kathryn Norman
Chair, Re-Entry Task Force

Important South Parking Lot Notice

Out of concern for the safety of our Sunday worshipers, Henrico Police recommend that pedestrians leaving the south parking lot avoid the driveway where cars are turning in. Instead walk towards the officer and cross close to where the officer is standing. The lower commons entrance on the other side of the building will be open before worship for those who prefer to park in the large north parking lot.
