(scroll down to view all information)
We invite you to join us for our live service broadcast below. On Sunday, June 20, 2021, the livestream will begin at 10:50 a.m. with pre-worship music. Please download or print the bulletin in preparation for worship.
Important South Parking Lot Notice
Out of concern for the safety of our Sunday worshipers, Henrico Police recommend that pedestrians leaving the south parking lot avoid the driveway where cars are turning in. Instead walk towards the officer and cross close to where the officer is standing. The lower commons entrance on the other side of the building will be open before worship for those who prefer to park in the large north parking lot.
Childcare is available during worship by reservation for children, infants through kindergarten.
- Childcare will be held in Room #112. Drop off and pick up will be at the outside door, to the left of the portico/preschool entrance. The volunteer will be at the door to greet you.
- Upon arrival, your child’s temperature will be taken and COVID questions will be asked. Children will then wash their hands when they enter the classroom.
- If needed, please bring a snack for your child.
- Depending on the age of the children, we will have a short bible lesson, possibly a craft, and playtime.
If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com.
In-Person Worship Protocol Update
May 27, 2021
Greetings, River Road Church Family! I am excited to share with you the following plan for this Sunday’s worship service, as it marks a significant shift from previous COVID protocols and restrictions.
Since May, 2020, the Re-Entry Task Force and I have sought to live out our call to love God and one another through our efforts to maintain as safe an environment for everyone as we could, following the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control. The CDC’s recent guidance indicates that fully-vaccinated persons (persons completing two weeks following their final vaccine dose) may choose whether to wear a mask in most indoor and outdoor environments. Moreover, the CDC tells us that the primary mode of disease transmission remains between unvaccinated persons, so these persons are advised to continue wearing masks and maintaining physical distancing.
In light of this new guidance, I am pleased to offer the following plans for worship and congregational life beginning this Sunday.
Masks—Fully vaccinated persons may choose whether to wear a mask in worship. Anyone not fully vaccinated is required to do so. We fully support anyone who by choice or necessity keeps their masks on.
Physical Distancing—You are invited to sit wherever you’d like in the sanctuary. During this period of transition, however, we will provide some space on the pulpit side for those who desire (or must) keep physical distant from others.
Singing—We will be singing this Sunday! You are invited to join in singing the hymns and the Doxology, and you will notice a gradual return to a full choir over the next several weeks.
Bulletins—for those who attend in-person worship, bulletins will be available for pickup (or handed to you) in the Narthex. Persons worshiping at home are strongly encouraged to download and print a bulletin at rrcb.org/live. As we recruit and train volunteers in running the new video system, we must simplify production, particularly the amount of information found on-screen. We appreciate your understanding.
Entrances—For now, the primary entrance to worship will be through the Narthex doors (opening to the plaza). The east Narthex door will be open for anyone needing access to the adjacent ramp. The door to the Bridge (in between the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall) will be open for restroom access. More entrances will become available as our capacity increases.
WorshipCare—we are pleased to provide nursery care for children from birth through Kindergarten. Details can be found above. Click here to sign up to to let us know your child will be coming.
Reservations will no longer be required for attending worship.
Funerals and Weddings—Weddings and funerals are being held with the same plan as for Sunday morning worship services.
Church Offices—The church offices have been open for several weeks (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) and we encourage you to stop by and say hello!
Committee Meetings—committees are encouraged to meet via Zoom, in-person, or a hybrid gathering, based upon the needs of your group. Please call the church office to arrange for a time and space. The masking and distancing guidelines above will apply to your committee meeting.
Sunday School presents an ongoing challenge for us as rooms are smaller and more densely populated than the Sanctuary or Fellowship Hall. We are actively planning and strategizing for a safe return to in-person Sunday School activities.
Please know how eager and excited we are to welcome you back to worship! I do hope you’ll join us in the Sanctuary very soon. I realize, however, that some of you may need to continue worshiping online for the time being, for various reasons. Regardless, I’m delighted you are a part of our River Road Family!
