Medical, Dental, & Construction Team
February 3-11, 2018
River Road Church, Baptist is continuing our mission to Panama to serve with the Fundacion Christiana Medico Social (Medical Social Christian Foundation) to provide services to the Embera Indians and those in need along the Panama Canal region in Gamboa and Chepo. This year we will be doing both medical and dental services in addition to construction in a Baptist Church in Gamboa to develop a permanent Free Health Clinic, especially for the Emberas who live on a nearby island without health facilities. The Foundation volunteers of doctors, dentists, nurses, etc. will then be able to provide ongoing health services at intervals throughout the year (similar to CrossOver Health Care Ministry). The team is partnering with three other churches and 21 people led by co-team leaders Judy Collins, Joe Teefey, and Sue Smith, a CBF missionary. Other team members from RRCB include: Ron Benton, Libby Grammer, Norma Hays, John Heisler, Bonnie Livick, R.C. Moore, Emily Sumner, Bill Rusher, Anne Rusher, and Geoff Sundberg.
Our church will commission the team during worship on Sunday, January 28, 2018. We hope you will commit to pray for them as they are on mission in the name of Christ providing love and care to our Panamanian neighbors.
After a five-year partnership between the Virginia Baptist and Panama Baptist Conventions concluded in 2016, the Virginia Team was asked to serve again due to the relationships developed with the Medical Social Christian Foundation and the Cooper family (founders).
