Hands and Hearts: Nickelsville Mission Trip

Nickelsville, VA, Scott County
Partnering with Southwest Virginia Partnership, Inc.

April 26-May 1, 2020, Sunday through Friday. Leaving after worship on Sunday, April 26.

Contact Laura Lee Chandler (804-337-4483 or LauraLeeChandler@gmail.com).

Are you interested in helping sort and distribute food pantry items to the residents of Scott County, who depend on these donations to feed their families?

Are you interested in visiting ladies and gentlemen who live in an assisted living residence with beautiful views of the mountains? We play bingo and distribute stuffed animals as prizes, which they LOVE! And, of course, everyone wins! We also organize a craft activity. Watching the residents help each other complete their craft and encourage each other brings joy to us all.

Are you interested in construction or electrical work? We will provide assistance as needed through the Southwest Virginia Partnership to residents who have pre-qualified for necessary repairs on their homes.

We have room for four more willing adults to join the team!

Let Laura Lee Chandler know if you are interested.

Our 2020 Team is as follows:

  • Diane and Bob Shoemake
  • Anna Miller
  • Norma Hays
  • Sallie Sparks
  • Peggy Pruden
  • Julia Nixon
  • Wanda Pleasants
  • Beth Wilson
  • Bill Thurston
  • Bill Rusher

Donations: Stuffed Animals
Deadline: Sunday, April 19

Please bring new or gently used stuffed animals that the Mission team will use as prizes for games played with residents at the Assisted Living Facility. The residents especially love dogs, cats, and bears, but anything cute, soft and snuggly is liked. The residents will give the stuffed animals to younger family members who visit, and some also keep them in their rooms.

Deliver the donations to the designated bin at the Lower Commons Mission Table.
