Update from the Minister of Music Search Committee

Dear Church Family,

We want to thank you for your continued prayers and support as we work to find our new Minister of Music. Your patience and encouragement throughout this process have meant a great deal to our committee.

We are writing today to share an important update on our search. You may be aware that we recently interviewed three strong finalists for this position. After careful consideration and prayer, we extended an offer to one of our candidates. After continued prayer and conversation, the candidate felt called to remain in their current church. While we’re disappointed, we respect this decision, and we remain confident in God’s guidance in finding the right person for our church and our music ministry.

We have also prayerfully concluded that the other finalists, while gifted individuals, are not the right match for our church at this time. As a result, we are continuing our search to identify additional candidates who will be an excellent fit for our congregation and our ministry.

While we know this may feel disappointing to some, we want to share why we remain genuinely hopeful and encouraged:

We have learned invaluable lessons that could only come from walking through this process. The interviews, conversations, and discernment we’ve engaged in have sharpened our understanding of what we truly need in a Minister of Music and what our church has to offer.

We have a clearer picture of the current landscape for church music ministry. We better understand the pool of available candidates, their expectations, and how our position fits within the broader context of similar searches.

We are adapting and improving our approach based on everything we’ve learned. We’re refining our search strategy, reconsidering our timeline, and applying the wisdom we’ve gained to make this next phase successful.

We do not have an exact timeline to share with you today, but we can tell you this: this is too important a decision to rush. The Minister of Music will play a vital role in our worship life and spiritual formation for years to come, and we are committed to finding the right person, even if it takes longer than we initially hoped. We express our gratitude to Interim Minister of Music, Dr. Neal Campbell, for his steady leadership and willingness to serve in this role as we continue our search.

We believe God is at work in this process, and we trust that the right person is out there. We ask for your continued prayers and support as we move forward with renewed focus and determination. Pray for wisdom for our committee, pray for the person God is preparing to serve alongside us, and pray for patience and unity within our congregation.

Thank you for walking with us on this journey.

In faith and hope,
The Minister of Music Search Committee
