Growing in Commitment, Rooted in Faith

Growing in Commitment, Rooted in Faith

For over 70 years, River Road Church, Baptist has been Growing in Commitment and Rooted in Faith. We have inherited deep roots of thoughtfully faithful ministry, and for that we give thanks to God. In return, we seek to grow in giving of our time, our talents, and our treasure. Thank you for your commitment!

Commitment Sunday
October 28, 2018

Over the last month, we’ve read stories from our church family about why River Road Church is a place they call home. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen banners hang in the narthex, Lower Commons, and Fellowship Hall showing memories of our ministries from the last year. Over the last couple of Sundays, we’ve heard from friends in worship speak about why commitment to RRCB is important to them. We encourage you to be in prayer, thinking about how you can commit to River Road Church in 2019. Pledge cards are available in the pew racks and were mailed out. You are encouraged to place your pledge card in the model steeple, located in the narthex.

Roots in Richmond

In 1994, Janet and I moved to Richmond from upstate New York. We left 94 inches of snow behind and came to Richmond where Pansies were blooming - we’d moved to paradise! However, when you move to a new town you have to start over. This includes finding a new church....

Why Would We Not?

The drill on Sunday mornings looked something like this: when child #1 was ready for church, he/she sat on the living room sofa until time to go….child #2 and child #3 followed suit. Once fed, cleaned up, and dressed, we were to stay that way. When both brothers and I...

Priorities

When we moved to Richmond five years ago, we immediately started visiting churches. For us not to have a church community would be an unimaginable void. From our early life, church has pointed us to THE ANCHOR in all the ups and downs of life. In our new city we...

There are a lot of Churches in Richmond

We give because we are thankful for this church and the people here. When we moved to Richmond from Bermuda in 2009, we began looking for a church. In Bermuda, we were members of the Church of Scotland. The tiny church was founded in 1719 and had no air conditioning,...

Our Church is a Gift

River Road Church, Baptist is my home. When I came to the church for the first time in May of 1995, Ann and Sid Hays welcomed me into the kindergarten Sunday School class. From that time on, I could not imagine being anywhere else. I have grown up at River Road...

Why We Support RRCB

I recently reread the first couple of chapters of A History of River Road Church, Baptist 1946-1996. Those two chapters recount how River Road Church grew from a dream of about a dozen laypersons in 1944 to a congregation of 855 members by the end of 1960. My parents...

Stewardship, Generosity, Falling in Love, and Prayer

So much has been said and written about stewardship and generosity. Basically, it all boils down to this: The more you give, the better you’ll feel, and the more joyful you’ll be. However, regardless of how inspirational the talk and elegant the writing, the practice...
