Growing in Commitment, Rooted in Faith

Growing in Commitment, Rooted in Faith

For over 70 years, River Road Church, Baptist has been Growing in Commitment and Rooted in Faith. We have inherited deep roots of thoughtfully faithful ministry, and for that we give thanks to God. In return, we seek to grow in giving of our time, our talents, and our treasure. Thank you for your commitment!

Commitment Sunday
October 28, 2018

Over the last month, we’ve read stories from our church family about why River Road Church is a place they call home. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve seen banners hang in the narthex, Lower Commons, and Fellowship Hall showing memories of our ministries from the last year. Over the last couple of Sundays, we’ve heard from friends in worship speak about why commitment to RRCB is important to them. We encourage you to be in prayer, thinking about how you can commit to River Road Church in 2019. Pledge cards are available in the pew racks and were mailed out. You are encouraged to place your pledge card in the model steeple, located in the narthex.

Thankful for the Commitment of our Members

“You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:11-12)...

“Let’s Twist Again”

Do you remember the children’s toy the kaleidoscope? It plays a metaphorical role in the Life Class, our Sunday School class. Each Sunday we strive to give “it” a twist to see something anew in the scriptures. Why do men and women near or in retirement still come on...

A Mainstay in Our Lives

My association with River Road Church, Baptist began in 1955 when my family moved to Richmond, and soon thereafter we joined the church. Sunday School, worship services, Girls in Action (GA’s), and Youth Group were a regular part of my ‘growing-up’ years. In 1966, Tom...

A Place of Hope, Love, and Faith

When Rick and I stopped to ponder “why do we choose to give to our church,” we both had the same response. Why would we not give when we have been given so much? Like many of River Road’s members, Rick and I are children of the church. Neither of us remembers “church”...

A Worthy Symbol

This stewardship campaign's symbol, a tree with roots, branches, and leaves is an appropriate analogy for our family's stewardship. We planted our family here shortly after our daughter Ella was born and a year or so before our son Jack came along. A warm welcome when...

Generous Acts of Giving

A Good Decision?

Priceless

Anybody remember those old MasterCard commercials with the “Priceless” tagline? That’s how we think about giving to River Road Church, Baptist. We can’t put a price on “church” – the way a beautiful service moves us, our Sunday School class bringing us dinners after...

To God be the Glory

We sometimes refer to ourselves as MethoBapterians—because during our younger days we worked in church music in Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterian Churches. Moreover, we felt at home in each of those churches. Given that experience, we are confident that today there...
