SUMMARY:The Way of Love with Dr. Norman Wirzba | Distinguished Speaker Forum
DESCRIPTION:Time & Location: 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary\n\nTickets $10 per person\nFacebook Event\n\nAt a time when Christianity is being presented as many things\, Dr. Wirzba will help us explore Christianity as a pathway that is defined by love. This is not trivial or sentimental love but active and self-giving love\, with Christ as our primary example and guide. \nWhat does it look like when Christ’s followers are centered in and living lives of love? What might happen if we reconnect with the heart of Christianity? How can we be encouraged as we strive for this? Will our words and actions provide a beautiful\, inviting interpretation of the Good News of Jesus? \nThis is an important and relevant conversation we need. \nNorman Wirzba is the Gilbert T. Rowe Distinguished Professor of Theology at Duke University and the author of numerous books\, including Way of Love and Love’s Braided Dance. His work explores how theology and philosophy can respond to today’s pressing issues like climate change\, AI\, and social inequality. Outside academia\, he enjoys baking\, playing guitar\, woodworking\, and spending time with his family. \nDistinguished Speaker Forum at River Road Church

SUMMARY:An Evening with Jeff Chu | Distinguished Speaker Forum

With honesty\, he explores what it means to be a gay man trying to understand what Christians say and what God says about him and what matters most. Vulnerably stewarding his story\, he offers friendship and hope to those who are on the same search. Additionally\, he offers the church a window into understanding how we may share God’s loving acceptance with those who are questioning\, longing\, and searching. \nThis lecture will be held in the Sanctuary. This event is free and open to the public. A $10 donation is suggested. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n “I wear several different hats to cover my coarse Chinese hair\, which requires too much product to tame: Writer\, reporter\, editor.
