Called Church Business Meeting

Time & Location: 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall

At its March 17 meeting, the Board of Administration voted to call a special business meeting for Sunday, March 24, 2024, following worship in the Fellowship Hall. The meeting will begin after a brief reception and the annual Easter Egg Hunt.

The only item on the agenda is the authorization of an ordination council to be formed. The pastor will present the following motion:

I move that the church authorize the Chair and Vice Chair of Deacons, along with the pastor, to appoint an ordination council of ministers and lay persons, consistent with our church bylaws, to examine whether Beth Rooney Bailey has been “called by God to the work of ministry” (RRCB Bylaws, Section 2). The ordination council shall make a report to the entire Deacon Body. If the council’s report recommends Beth for ordination, Deacons shall vote upon the recommendation. Should the Deacons vote in affirmation of the council’s report, a service of ordination shall be scheduled.

You may recall that this is the exact procedure we followed for Bill Thurston’s ordination council process.

This special business meeting will take place in the Fellowship Hall and will not be offered via Zoom. Therefore, we are asking all members who are able to attend in person to do so. We hope to offer Zoom again for the April business meeting.

Per River Road Church bylaws, we need at least 100 people present at this meeting to constitute a quorum. Please make plans now to attend. Thank you.
