In May 1714, English Baptists appointed “messenger” Robert Norden to Virginia, and he planted the first Baptist Church in Virginia. For 300 years there has been a continuous Baptist presence in Virginia. There are two events for the celebration listed below. Both events are free. Time of Remembrance & Thanksgiving

7:30 p.m., RRCB Sanctuary
The worship Program will include music for a grand occasion including the Virginia Baptist Women’s Chorale and an historical address on the “Genesis and Genius of Virginia Baptists.”
Heritage Festival
Saturday, May 17
10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., University of Richmond
All ages will enjoy the exhibits, music, and presentations. The “Free Indeed!” exhibit commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the emancipation will be on view in the Virginia Baptist Historical Society’s building.
