A 24-hour retreat for adults, men and women, to escape from our busy lives and create a sacred space in which to witness the Sacred within and around.  The time will be spent both individually and collectively exploring guided imagery, mindful meditation, prayer, creative expressions (e.g. art, music), meditative readings (including Scripture), and other spiritual disciplines in order to renew and refresh our minds, bodies, and spirits.

The retreat will take place at Richmond Hill, an ecumenical Christian fellowship and Residential Community who serve as stewards of an urban retreat center within the setting of a historic monastery.

You are invited to attend a mini retreat Friday night, the full retreat day Saturday, or the entire 24 hours. (See the tentative schedule below.)  Please register by February 21.  Overnight lodging space at Richmond Hill is extremely limited, so please reserve your space sooner if you wish to take advantage of the opportunity to stay at the retreat center.

Richmond Hill & Suzanne L. Vinson

An important part of the experience of a retreat at Richmond Hill is the participant’s entering into the life of the community through the rhythm of prayers, work, meals, and fellowship.  This gentle rhythm slows the rushing pace of the ordinary day and helps us step back to take the longer view and the deeper look that is so often essential to the work of the retreat.

The schedule of our common life with the residents of Richmond Hill will include evening prayer on Friday (6:00pm), as well as morning (7:00am) and noonday prayer on Saturday.

Facilitating the retreat for River Road Church will be Suzanne L. Vinson, artist, mother, and ordained minister who lives a creative life with her loves while caring and sharing through her art, spirituality retreats, and gatherings at the table.

Registration

To register, please contact the church office (804-288-1131) or Sheryl Johnson (sheryljohnson@rrcb.org) to reserve your spot.  Please indicate which part(s) of the retreat you wish to attend and if participating in both days, if you wish to stay overnight.
