A 24-hour retreat for adults, men and women, to escape from our busy lives and create a sacred space in which to engage in spiritual practice.  The time will be spent both individually and collectively exploring guided imagery, creative expressions (e.g. art, music), meditative readings (including Scripture), and other spiritual disciplines in order to renew and refresh our minds, bodies, and spirits.

The retreat will take place at Richmond Hill, an ecumenical Christian fellowship and Residential Community who serve as stewards of an urban retreat center within the setting of a historic monastery.  It will begin at 4pm on Friday and conclude by 4pm on Saturday.  If you are unable to arrive by 5:15 (the first official activity), do not despair!  Late arrivals can be accommodated. We strongly encourage folks to arrive by 6pm for Evening Prayer.

The official registration deadline is January 21.  Registrations after this date will be accepted on a space available basis.

Richmond Hill & Suzanne L. Vinson

An important part of the experience of a retreat at Richmond Hill is the participant’s entering into the life of the community through the rhythm of prayers, work, meals, and fellowship.  This gentle rhythm slows the rushing pace of the ordinary day and helps us step back to take the longer view and the deeper look that is so often essential to the work of the retreat.

Suzanne L. Vinson

The schedule of our common life with the residents of Richmond Hill will include evening prayer on Friday (6:00pm), as well as morning (7:00am) and noonday prayer on Saturday.

Facilitating the retreat for River Road Church will be Suzanne L. Vinson, artist, mother, and minister, who is living a creative life while caring and sharing through her art, spirituality retreats, bereavement support groups, and gatherings at the table. Space is limited to 40 participants.
